Working for Pickfords Pharmacy is challenging but also rewarding. I am lucky to work in a lovely, welcoming, and caring environment. No two days are the same, especially when the role requires me to organise staff. I feel I have the right support, and I know I can speak to my line manager at any time. I have made lifelong friendships and Pickfords Pharmacy really does have a family feel.

I love working at Pickford's Pharmacy as it gives me the chance to allow me to actually do my job! I am supported all the way from head office to branch level, it’s like one big family. I have worked for the company for over two months and have found the management very supportive and helpful while I adapted into the business. As this is a new role and industry for me, I found the hands-on training was adequate and beneficial to highlight what was required from me. Being part-time suits my work-life balance and allows job sharing to be provided throughout the many drivers. At times it can be fast paced but this challenges me while learning my way around the Doncaster borough. You can see how the delivery service provides an effective way for those unable to leave the house to receive their medication promptly.

Delivery Driver

As a Pickfords delivery driver, you are the friendly face delivering prescriptions to those in the community who are unable to come into the pharmacy or are the most vulnerable. In some cases, you could be the only person that customer has contact within their day, so you need to be caring, respectful, empathetic, and professional, and always working to ensure that our customers experience excellent customer care.

Alongside your delivery duties you will be responsible for taking card payments where customers pay for their delivery, maintenance of the company vehicle and reporting any concerns you may have about a customer to the branch manager.

Here at Pickfords pharmacy we understand you cannot fulfil your role to your full potential without training, so we have a driver course, and you also complete the in-house customer service training. With these tools you will have the confidence to excel in your role and be an ambassador for Pickfords pharmacy.

Healthcare Assistant

Do you have an “always here to help” attitude? If so, then a role as a Health care assistant at Pickfords could be right for you.

You are generally the first point of contact and the face of the pharmacy for patients. You need excellent customer service skills and the ability to listen and be empathetic as you deliver a wide range of functions to support the delivery of services and the retail functions of the pharmacy.

You will undertake the prescription reception process, including supporting patients to complete the declarations on NHS prescriptions. Through the mandatory training and support we at Pickfords offer, you will be able to confidently give advice on the treatment of minor illnesses and basic healthy lifestyle support.

You will work under the supervision of the pharmacist and branch manager. Following further training, you will be skilled to provide some aspects of NHS commissioned services, such as NHS health checks.

As a healthcare assistant, you play a vital role in delivering healthcare advice and services in the heart of the communities we serve.

Dispenser

Are you the kind of person who has excellent customer service and will spot when help is needed, it could be helping at the counter, putting stock away, answering the phone or dispensing medication? Then Pickfords Pharmacy is the place for you. We can give and support you with the right training, and you will acquire NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services to make a difference to the customers in your community, and you will have a real sense of pride and job satisfaction.

With your caring, enthusiastic, empathic, and respectful approach to work, and with the training we can provide, you will play a vital role in helping us be the provider of choice in the communities we serve.

Accuracy Checking Dispenser

As an accuracy checking dispenser (ACD), you have taken your career another step via additional training which allows you to undertake an accuracy check of dispensed medicines. You are a vital part of the pharmacy team as you free up the pharmacist to undertake other duties while you complete the final check of medication in most circumstances once the pharmacist has completed the clinical check.

At Pickfords Pharmacy we see and understand the important and valuable work ourACD’s do which improves efficiency of the dispensing process, and the ability to free up pharmacist time to allow them to deliver other services.

Technician

You will work under the supervision of the pharmacist and branch manager. Patients will look to you for advice with their medication and healthcare needs. You are skilled, professional, and an essential member of the pharmacy team who duties include to prepare, dispense, supply, and issue a wide range and variety of medicines to patients.

As a technician you are well organised and willing to confidently step up and deputise for the branch manager. With the development opportunities and support offered here at Pickfords Pharmacy, you will feel a sense of pride in your work, which stands you in great stead for a range of progression opportunities.

You are responsible and accountable for your own safe and accurate practice. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Accuracy Checking Technician

Branch Manager

Here at Pickfords our branch managers are the valuable members of the team. You will lead your team by example and ensure the day to day running of the branch adheres to the company procedures.

You will have a proven track record of managing a team of people, and with your energy, enthusiasm and commitment, your customers will receive the best possible pharmacy experience. You will also have the drive and ambition to ensure your branch meets their business targets.

You will participate in all branch processes and establish relationships with customers, and healthcare professionals. You will be an ambassador for Pickfords pharmacy in serving the community and interacting with customers on a day-to-day basis.

Pharmacist

As a pharmacist, you get the opportunity to interact directly with patients daily which makes a significant difference to their lives. No two days are the same as there is a variety of interactions, large or small, they are moments where you can make a difference for someone.

In a fast-paced environment, you will lead by example, maintain professional standards, while being approachable and helpful to both customers and colleagues. Having the drive and ambition will ensure you meet the demands of the pharmacy and obtain impressive results alongside your team.

Pharmacists only working in the dispensary has long gone due to the variety within the role. As healthcare and the role of community pharmacy evolves, you will find you are increasingly tasked with new clinical responsibilities as part of your training and skill development, which means the community pharmacist role has exciting times ahead.
