We dispense NHS prescriptions from your GP’s surgery, dentist, or some hospital departments. These can be one-off prescriptions, or a repeat prescription, where you take the same medicine over a longer period of time.

We will also give advice on how to get the most benefit from your medicines. We keep a comprehensive stock of medicines and use a number of fast and efficient wholesalers to enable us to fulfil all prescriptions promptly.

In England, your GP can send your prescription to us electronically, so you don't have to collect a paper copy of your prescription and bring it into the pharmacy. All you need to do is nominate your local Pickfords pharmacy with the Doctor’s surgery. We will take care of the rest.

A repeat prescription is issued by a GP when you are taking regular medication e.g. for asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure etc. Generally, the GP will issue a prescription to you without seeing you each time. Many GP surgeries will let you request a prescription online. Once you have ordered your repeat prescription, contact us as we can save you time by picking it up from the surgery and having it ready for collection in the pharmacy.

If you sign up for this service, we can text you to tell you when your medicines are ready to collect. This will save you unnecessary time waiting in the pharmacy. All we need is your mobile number; it is that simple. If someone else usually collects your prescription, we can text them instead. You will need to get their permission first.
