Dispenser

Reports to: Responsible Pharmacist / Non-Pharmacist Branch Manager

Key responsibilities: 

 

·       Dispense prescription medicine to the public in accordance with the regulations and contractual obligations. 

·       Complete operational requirements as requested by the Branch Manager. 

·       Comply with NHS contractual obligations, GPHC, regulations and SOP’s. 

·       Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with Health & Safety, company procedures, rules and regulations. 

·       Responsible for serving the customer on the phone, over the counter and providing excellent customer service in hand with promoting services. 

·       Adopt the company values and be an ambassador for the business. 

·       Work in line with stock management procedures. 

·       The position reports to the Branch Manager. 

·       Training is essential for individual growth and the successful candidate must have an open approach to training and complete courses when necessary. 

·       Assist in other branches should the need arise.

·       Good communication skills are essential as you must be able to listen carefully to what patients say, as well as be able to explain complex and sometimes sensitive information to the public and other healthcare professionals.

·       Ability to work with others in a multidisciplinary team as well as be a key member of the team.

·       Have a genuine concern for the welfare of the public.

·       Must be accurate and meticulous regarding attention to detail.

·       A willingness to take on a high level of responsibility

·       High level of IT literacy and numeracy.

·       Must be available to work weekends to a rota and be flexible to cover for sickness and holidays.

·       Working towards or completed an accredited NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) Dispensing Assistant training course under the guidance of the pharmacist or registered pharmacy techinican.*

*It is a legal requirement when working within the dispensary that you are either working towards or have gained your level 2 certificate, or equivalent GPhC recognised qualification.
